For the people of Dayak, human blood has a special meaning. Blood symbolizes devotion to the highest, for example, when a Dayak take a vow, or adoptive brother, sometimes they do hakinan daha hasapan belom/belum/ tradition, which means exchange of blood. Similarly, in case of bloody murder, especially when the murdered is a well-respected, so in order the murderer not accurst or damned, the killer quickly wiped his victim's blood with his finger and then licked the blood rushed or put on the forehead with the intention that it be free from the curse of the victim.
